Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Playdate, an app that helps dog owners find walking partners. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Playdate. Playdate is operated by Embret Roås, sole proprietor (Norway). Contact: hi@playdate.dog.

1. Who can use Playdate

You must be at least 18 years old to use Playdate. You must own (or be the primary caretaker of) any dog you list, and you must have the right to share the photos you upload. One account per person.

2. Your account

You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your password secure. Tell us at hi@playdate.dog if you suspect someone else has accessed your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate another person, dog, or organisation.
• Post photos or content that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
• Harass, threaten, or stalk another user.
• Solicit money, run scams, or sell services through the app.
• Scrape, copy, or otherwise extract data from the app.
• Use Playdate for any unlawful purpose.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

5. Reporting and blocking

Inside the app, every profile has an option to Report or Block the user. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and we act on confirmed violations within that window. If you can’t use the in-app flow, email hi@playdate.dog.

6. Content you post

You keep ownership of the photos and text you upload. You grant Playdate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the app for the purpose of running the matching service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that may persist briefly until they cycle out.

7. Beta service

Playdate is currently in beta. The app may have bugs, missing features, or temporary outages, and we may change features without notice. We try not to lose your data, but you should not rely on Playdate as the only place your photos or messages exist.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account in the app. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or if we’re required to by law. On termination, the licences in section 6 also end.

9. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Playdate is provided “as is” and without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that you will find a match, that other users will show up to a walk, or that any specific feature will work without interruption.

10. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Norwegian law, Playdate’s total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, which during the beta is zero. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including loss of data, profit, or goodwill.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer law that cannot be limited by contract.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Disputes that can’t be resolved by emailing us first will be settled by the Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court as the venue of first instance. If you’re a consumer in another EU/EEA country, you retain any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. If the change is material, we’ll notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Playdate after the change means you accept the new terms.
